The Craig Corda Collection.

Early to Mid 1980’s ATV racing – A plethora of words could be used to describe that era. Pioneering, exciting, innocent, coming of age, finesse, reckless & the most appropriate for this article – BRUTAL!

Yes, it was the guys (and the gals ) of that era, riding and racing the original racing ‘ATV’ paving the way for future generations of riders and racers to come.

I’m personally in awe, intrigued & humbled by the racers & machines of that day. I feel that they don’t get close to the respect they are due from today’s media, press and riders. It’s their loss, I guess. (Not the riders of yesterday, but rather those of today) I’ll continue to frame and hang their pictures on my wall, luckily converse with them online or on the telephone whenever possible and just do whatever I can to properly show respect to those who made the sport of ATV racing what it is today.

One such person, a man I am lucky enough to call a friend, is Mr.Brutal himself, Mr. Craig Corda.

You’ve probably read the interview I conducted with Craig months ago. Maybe even spoke with him on our forums where he is registered as BMC – Craig has been very willing to share with Airfoolers.com.

However, this willingness to share went a step further some months back. Craig had noticed the authentic racing gear Brett Driscoll had sent to me. Link 1 and Link 2 .

Craig & his wonderful wife Cathy gathered up my shipping address and just told me they were sending a package. I didn’t know what to expect – but – upon arrival I was floored.

Without further ado – here are some pics of the gear Craig and Cathy sent my way for archival. I will nothing short of cherish these items forever. They will be kept safe and preserved forever.

Welcome to Foolerfest!

Hello fellow Foolers!!

When I put this site online two years ago I had a simple goal. That goal was to archive every last bit of information about the 81-84 250R Three Wheeler I could gather.

Would anyone notice? Would anyone care? Would anyone help? Didn’t matter! The Airfooler was the original factory performance trike & in my opinion, it deserved it’s own shrine on the net. People ‘oh’ & ‘ah’ over the 85-86 model year & while that’s all fine and good – it bugs me when people neglect, overlook or hate on the Fooler. The true original.

I guess you have to own one to realize how special they are. A different breed, not unlike those own, ride & love them.

Over the last 2 years I’ve come to find out there were many, many more Foolers out there just as passionate as me. A group of people so kind, caring, giving and just all around ‘good people’

I may have provided a ‘home’ – but – they provided the ‘family.’

Some members of our family are gathered in Attica right now for Foolerfest 2010! It blows my mind and humbles me to even write that!

And to get the pic below in an email? Words don’t do justice to the emotions I felt when I saw it. I’ll let the picture speak for itself and end by saying – Wish I was there guys!

Some fresh content. :)

What’s up Fooler fanatics?

I’m still in the process of photographing & archiving the cool vintage items from Mr.Brutal, Craig Corda’s personal collection. I KNOW you all are going to really enjoy checking that stuff out. They are some seriously cool, authentic items from the real heyday of three wheeler racing.

In the meantime – I’ve got some fresh content for all of you to check out today. Hope you like it.

I dug up some new Vintage Ad’s from back in the day. To go along with that, check out the two new ‘Rider Profile’ articles from 3 Wheeling Magazine – you can them in the Magazine Articles section.

These profiles are pretty interesting – one features Airfoolers.com’s old friend, Mr.Tracey Dickson while the other features a racer I had, until now, never heard of before – Mrs.Robin Davis a female rider who used to race against and compete with the men of that era! Pretty neat huh?

I’ve also sprinkled a few Easter Eggs around within the site. LOL! Some may never be found and uncovered – but – they’re there. :)

OK guys – enjoy the update. I’ll work on getting the Corda collection live soon!

The Mike Chester Saga

Mike Chester, like many many many young men coming of age in the late 70’s and early 80’s had a ‘need for speed’ and this need for speed gravitated towards three wheelers as they burst onto the scene in the 70’s and then in the 80’s with their high performance coming straight from the factory. Team Honda had seen what Three Wheeler owners were doing with smaller ATC90’s and 110’s and had a plan to forever change the face of Three Wheeler racing.

When the 1st ever factory high performance Three Wheeler, the ATC 250R, was first introduced in late 1980, Honda asked 3Wheeling magazine to put together some names to run the SCORE Parker 400 Off-Road race in February 1981. Some of the names that were mentioned included Mark Wiexeldorer, Mike Chester, Dean Sundahl, Bob Williams, and others.

At this point in time, one could say the 1st ever Team Honda ATC Racing Team was born. However, ‘officially’ the 1st Team Honda ATC, managed by Wess McCoy, consisted of Mike Coe, Mike Chester, Curtis Sparks, Mark Wiexeldorer, Tom Gaian & Dean ‘The King’ Sundahl. (It should be noted that Sundahl did extensive testing and refining of the ATC250 for over a year before it’s released riding pre-production models.)

With the Team in place and Three Wheelers becoming more popular then ever and the new ground breaking ATC 250R ready to change the sport forever spirits were high and the future was bright for everyone involved.

However, for Mike Chester things were about to go bad really fast sending his life and career into a downward spiral .
